File Manager for Renault Android Automotive

Renault's OpenR Link infotainment system is built on Android Automotive OS — the full embedded Android platform, not phone mirroring. This means you can install Android apps directly from the in-car Play Store, including AnExplorer.

AnExplorer gives Renault drivers a car-optimised file manager: browse USB drives and dashcam footage, stream from a NAS, transfer files from your phone wirelessly, and access cloud storage — all from the vehicle's touchscreen.

Note: Renault models with R-Link 2 (older ICE Renaults) run a Linux-based system and do NOT support Android apps or AnExplorer. Only OpenR Link vehicles are compatible.

  1. In your Renault, open the Play Store from the infotainment home screen
  2. Search for AnExplorer
  3. Tap Install — completes in 1–2 minutes over WiFi or mobile data
  4. AnExplorer appears on your app launcher

If the Play Store isn't available yet, use APK sideloading:

  1. Download the APK from the download page on your phone
  2. Transfer via USB drive or WiFi: WiFi File Transfer
  3. Open AnExplorer → navigate to the APK → tap to install

Browse USB Storage in Your Renault

The Mégane E-Tech and Scenic E-Tech have USB-A ports in the centre console for media and charging. AnExplorer can read these drives directly:

  1. Plug a formatted USB drive (FAT32 or exFAT) into the USB-A port
  2. Open AnExplorer → USB Storage
  3. Browse music, video, documents, or dashcam clips

Transfer Files from Phone to Renault

Move music, podcasts, or maps wirelessly — no USB cable needed:

  1. Open AnExplorer on your Android phone → WiFi Share
  2. Select your files
  3. On the Renault infotainment, open AnExplorer → Network → WiFi Receive
  4. Accept the transfer

Cloud Storage Access

OpenR Link includes a persistent 4G/5G SIM in some trims. AnExplorer uses this connection to access:

  • Dropbox — view and download files
  • OneDrive — access documents and photos
  • Box — business file access
  • Nextcloud — self-hosted option
