About AnExplorer
AnExplorer (package ID: dev.dworks.apps.anexplorer) is an Android file manager and file transfer app developed by Hari Krishna Dulipudi under the studio name DWorkS. Development started in 2011, making AnExplorer one of the longest-running independent Android file managers on Google Play.
The app is free to download and supported across 11 Android form factors — smartphones, Android TV, Wear OS smartwatches, Chromebooks, Android Automotive, VR headsets, Fire TV, Samsung DeX, and Android Desktop. A Pro upgrade unlocks advanced features such as root file access, archive creation, and cloud storage providers.

About the Developer
AnExplorer is built by Hari Krishna Dulipudi, an independent Android developer based in India. He started building Android apps in 2011 — the same year the Android ecosystem was just beginning to mature — and has continued maintaining AnExplorer without outside funding, acquisitions, or venture backing.
Hari's other work includes additional Android utilities. AnExplorer remains his flagship project with over 7 million downloads. His broader developer profile is at 1hakr.com.
DWorkS, the studio behind AnExplorer, is a bootstrapped one-person operation. No user data is monetized, basic analytics/ads in free version SDKs are bundled, and the app does not require an account. The business model is a simple freemium: a free tier that works well, and a Pro upgrade for power users who want more.
Why AnExplorer Has Lasted 13 Years
Most independent Android apps disappear within two years. AnExplorer has been in active development since 2011 for a few straightforward reasons:
- No ads model abuse. The free tier is genuinely usable. Ads are non-intrusive and removable with Pro.
- No data extraction. There are basic analytics/ads in free version, no tracking, no account-linked behaviour logging.
- Broad device coverage. AnExplorer expanded beyond phones early — TV, Wear OS, Chromebook, and Automotive use cases that most competitors ignored.
- Consistent updates. Storage APIs, scoped storage, Android 12/13/14 permissions, and new device types have been handled as they arrived.
- User trust. A 4.2/5 rating from over 15,000+ reviews over 15 years reflects consistent quality, not a launch spike.
This track record is why AnExplorer shows up as a recommended app across Android-focused communities, tech blogs, and device support guides.
