File Manager for Polestar 2
The Polestar 2 was one of the first cars to launch with Google-built Android Automotive OS — a full Android system embedded in the car, not phone mirroring. It includes a Play Store, Google Maps, and native Android apps. AnExplorer installs directly and gives you a proper file manager for dashcam footage, USB drives, and wireless file transfers.
Install AnExplorer on Polestar 2
From Google Play Store (recommended):
- On the Polestar 2 centre screen, tap the App Store icon
- Search for AnExplorer
- Install and open — no developer settings required
Via USB (APK sideload):
- Download the APK from anexplorer.io/download
- Copy to a USB drive (exFAT format)
- Plug into the Polestar 2's USB-A port in the centre console
- Open AnExplorer and tap the APK to install
Manage Dashcam Footage
Polestar 2 includes a built-in dashcam that writes to a USB drive plugged into the centre console. AnExplorer reads this drive directly:
- Browse event folders organised by date and time
- Watch clips on the car's 11.15-inch portrait screen
- Copy important events to Dropbox or OneDrive automatically
- Delete old footage without removing the drive
Transfer Files from Phone to Polestar 2
Send music, podcasts, or audio books wirelessly from your phone:
- Open AnExplorer on your Android phone and tap WiFi Share
- Select the files to transfer
- On the Polestar 2, open AnExplorer → Network → WiFi Receive
- Accept the transfer — completes in seconds over home WiFi
