Supported VR Headsets

AnExplorer works on all standalone Android XR platforms:

All headsets must have developer mode enabled to install AnExplorer via sideloading.

Sideload Apps on Your VR Headset

The most popular use case for AnExplorer on VR headsets is APK sideloading:

  1. Transfer the APK file to your headset via WiFi Transfer or USB
  2. Open AnExplorer and navigate to the APK file
  3. Tap the APK — AnExplorer's APK Installer handles the rest
  4. The app appears in your Unknown Sources library

This works for game mods, region-locked apps, beta builds, and content not available in the Meta Store.

Transfer Files from Phone to Headset

Send photos, videos, APKs, and game mods wirelessly:

  1. Open AnExplorer on your Android phone and tap WiFi Share
  2. Select files to transfer
  3. On your headset, open AnExplorer → NetworkWiFi Receive
  4. Accept — transfer completes at WiFi speed (30–80 MB/s typical)

Manage USB Storage on VR Headsets

All major standalone VR headsets have USB-C ports that support storage:

  • Meta Quest 3: USB 3.2 Gen 1 — plug in a USB-C drive and browse immediately with AnExplorer
  • PICO 4: USB-C OTG — connect a hub with USB-A drives
  • HTC Vive XR Elite: USB-C with OTG adapter
  • Samsung Galaxy XR: USB 3.2 with full OTG support

AnExplorer detects the USB drive automatically and lists it as a separate root in the file tree.

Access Cloud and NAS from Your Headset

Stream media directly to your headset without filling up internal storage:

  • Dropbox / OneDrive: browse and download files on demand
  • SMB / NAS: connect to a Synology or QNAP NAS on your home network and stream 4K content or game mods directly
