Android Automotive vs Android Auto — What's in Your Mitsubishi
Understanding which Android platform your Mitsubishi runs is important:
| System | Description | AnExplorer |
|---|---|---|
| Android Automotive OS | Full Android embedded in the car | ✅ Installs natively |
| Android Auto | Phone projection onto car screen | ❌ Not supported |
| Mitsubishi Connect | Proprietary infotainment (no Android) | ❌ Not supported |
Most current Mitsubishi models support Android Auto (phone mirroring), not Android Automotive OS. This means AnExplorer cannot run natively in the car's infotainment today.
Current Mitsubishi Model Status
| Model | Infotainment | AAOS | Android Auto |

| Outlander PHEV (2022+) | Mitsubishi Connect | ❌ | ✅ |

| ASX / Eclipse Cross (Europe 2023+) | Alliance-based | ❌ | ✅ |
| Colt (Europe 2023+) | MediaNav (Renault-based) | ❌ | ✅ |
| Future Mitsubishi EVs | AAOS (planned) | 🔜 | ✅ |

When Mitsubishi Gets Android Automotive
The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance has standardised on Google's Android Automotive OS for new EV platforms. Mitsubishi is expected to release AAOS-based vehicles on future electric platforms shared with Renault and Nissan ARIYA successors.
When Mitsubishi vehicles gain full Android Automotive OS:
- AnExplorer installs from the in-car Play Store — no sideloading needed
- USB Drive access — browse dashcam footage, media, and documents
- WiFi Transfer — move files between phone and car wirelessly
- Cloud Storage — Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, Nextcloud
