Cast Media from Android to TV

AnExplorer's built-in media casting streams your local files directly to any Chromecast, Android TV, Google TV, Google Home, or DLNA-compatible device on your network — no cloud, no subscription, no separate app.

Compatible Devices

  • Chromecast (1st, 2nd, 3rd gen, Ultra, 4K)
  • Android TV / Google TV (Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Xiaomi Mi Box, Google TV Stick)
  • Google Nest Hub / Nest Hub Max
  • Google Home with display
  • Amazon Fire TV / Fire TV Stick (via DIAL protocol)
  • DLNA / UPnP renderers — Smart TVs, AV receivers, media players

Supported Media Formats

TypeFormats
VideoMP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WebM, TS — H.264, H.265/HEVC, VP8, VP9
AudioMP3, FLAC, AAC, OGG, OPUS, WAV
PhotosJPEG, PNG, WEBP — slideshow mode available

For formats not natively supported by the target device, AnExplorer performs on-device transcoding so the stream arrives in a compatible format.

How to Cast

  1. Ensure phone and TV are on the same WiFi network.
  2. In AnExplorer, long-press a media file or tap the cast icon.
  3. Select your target device from the list of discovered devices.
  4. Playback begins on the TV in seconds.
  5. Control playback — pause, skip, seek, volume — from the phone.

Cast Entire Folders

Select a folder of music or photos → Cast Playlist → AnExplorer queues all compatible files and plays them in order on the TV. Albums, vacation photos, or any folder becomes an instant TV slideshow or music session.

Cast From Anywhere in AnExplorer

Cast files from any location AnExplorer can reach:

  • Internal storage and SD card
  • USB OTG drive (plug a flash drive → cast its videos to TV)
  • Network Storage — stream directly from a NAS to TV
  • Cloud Storage — stream a Dropbox video to TV without downloading to phone

No Cloud Required

Unlike Chromecast apps that require the video to be in YouTube, Netflix, or another service, AnExplorer casts private local files — home videos, downloaded movies, personal photos — with no internet connection.

Pair with Video Player to control playback locally, or Music Player for audio casting. Use Network Storage to access a NAS and cast its content.
