iCloud on Android — The Real Situation
AnExplorer does not support iCloud Drive as a cloud storage connection, and neither does any other Android file manager. This is an Apple restriction, not a specific limitation of AnExplorer.
Why iCloud is Not Available on Android File Managers
Apple does not provide an Android SDK or public API for iCloud Drive. Unlike Dropbox, pCloud, and OneDrive which have open APIs for third-party apps, iCloud Drive is exclusive to Apple devices and Apple-authorized platforms (macOS, iOS, iCloud.com in a browser).
The iCloud website (icloud.com) works in a desktop browser, but not reliably from a mobile browser on Android — Apple actively limits it. As of 2026, iCloud.com does have a basic mobile browsing mode but it's limited in functionality.
Transferring Files Between iPhone and Android
If you're moving from iPhone to Android, or need to move files out of iCloud and into a cloud that AnExplorer can access, here are the working options:
Option 1: Download from iCloud.com on a Computer
- On a Mac or Windows PC, sign in to icloud.com
- Open iCloud Drive
- Download the files you need
- Upload them to Dropbox, OneDrive, or pCloud where AnExplorer can reach them
Option 2: AirDrop to iPhone → Share via Files App
If you still have access to your iPhone:
- AirDrop files to iPhone
- Use iPhone's Files app to upload to Dropbox, OneDrive, or Box
- Then access on Android via AnExplorer
Option 3: iCloud Photos Alternative
For photos specifically, you can use Google Photos on iPhone to back up your iCloud Photo Library, then access them on Android via Google Photos. While AnExplorer doesn't connect to Google Photos directly, you can download photos from Google Photos and use them from local storage.
Option 4: Use SMB or FTP via a Mac
If you have a Mac that is syncing iCloud Drive locally:
- The Mac stores iCloud files in
~/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/ - Enable SMB sharing or FTP on the Mac
- Connect from AnExplorer to access iCloud files across the network
Clouds That Work with AnExplorer on Android
If you're looking for an iCloud replacement that works natively with AnExplorer:
| Cloud | Free | Lifetime | Privacy Focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| pCloud | 10 GB | ✅ | ✅ Swiss-based |
| Dropbox | 2 GB | ❌ | — |
| OneDrive | 5 GB | ❌ | — |
| Box | 10 GB | ❌ | ✅ HIPAA compliant |
| Sync.com | 5 GB | ❌ | ✅ Canadian, zero-knowledge |
pCloud's privacy model (Swiss HQ, EU server option, client-side encryption with Crypto) makes it the closest conceptual replacement for users moving from Apple's ecosystem.
