File Manager for Honor Pad — NAS, Cloud & Archive Access on MagicOS Tablet

Last Updated :

Honor Pad — Affordable Tablets, Limited File Management

Honor's tablet lineup offers excellent value: the MagicPad 4 competes with iPad Air at half the price, the Pad X series targets students, and the Pad V series serves budget users. All run MagicOS with Google Play Store access (unlike Huawei tablets which lack Google services).

But like Honor phones, the tablets ship with a basic file manager that handles local browsing and not much else. No NAS access, no multi-cloud management, no archive tools, no wireless PC transfer. For a tablet positioned for productivity and media consumption, this is a significant gap.

AnExplorer transforms Honor Pad into a proper file management workstation with its tablet-optimized split-pane layout, network storage access, 7 cloud services, and universal wireless transfer.

Battery Optimization — The Critical Step

MagicOS on tablet inherits the same aggressive battery management as Honor phones. The three-toggle approach is required:

  1. Settings → Battery → App launch → find AnExplorer
  2. Toggle OFF "Manage automatically"
  3. Enable ALL three options:
    • Auto-launch ✅
    • Secondary launch ✅
    • Run in background ✅
  4. Lock in recent apps: swipe down on AnExplorer's card

Without these settings, Device Connect stops within seconds of switching apps. This is the most important configuration step.

Tablet-Optimized Split-Pane Layout

On Honor Pad's 10-12.3 inch screens, AnExplorer activates its split-pane layout:

  • Left panel: folder tree showing all storage locations (internal, cloud, NAS)
  • Right panel: file contents in list or grid view with thumbnails
  • Drag and drop: move files between locations by dragging across panels
  • Multi-select: long-press to select multiple files for batch operations

This layout is especially powerful when copying between NAS and local storage, or managing files across multiple cloud services simultaneously.

Wireless Transfer

Honor Share only works between Honor devices. Device Connect works with any browser:

  1. Open AnExplorer → ☰ → Device Connect → Start
  2. Note the address (e.g., http://192.168.1.42:8080)
  3. On your computer: open browser → type address → Enter
  4. Browse tablet files, download, upload from PC

Honor MagicPad 4 with WiFi 6 delivers 40-60 MB/s transfer speeds. The Pad X series with WiFi 5 reaches 15-30 MB/s.

Network Storage on the Big Screen

The tablet's large display makes network file browsing comfortable:

SMB — NAS and Windows shares:

  1. AnExplorer → Network → SMB → tap +
  2. Enter NAS IP, username, password
  3. Browse shares in split-pane view — comfortable on 10-12" screens

FTP/SFTP — remote servers:

  1. Network → FTP or SFTP → tap +
  2. Full file management on remote systems

WebDAV — Nextcloud/ownCloud:

  1. Network → WebDAV → tap +
  2. Access self-hosted cloud directly

All connections save to AnExplorer's sidebar for one-tap access. The split-pane layout is especially useful here — browse your NAS on one side and local storage on the other, then drag files between them. No re-entering credentials each time you want to access network files.

Cloud Storage Management

AnExplorer connects to 7 cloud services on Honor Pad:

  • Google Drive — full browse, upload, download, move, delete
  • Dropbox — personal and team folders
  • OneDrive — Microsoft personal and business (essential for students on M365)
  • MEGA — 20 GB free, end-to-end encrypted
  • Box — enterprise cloud storage
  • pCloud — European privacy-focused
  • Yandex Disk — popular in CIS regions

The tablet's larger screen makes cloud management productive — browse hierarchies, preview images, manage files across services without the cramped phone experience.

Honor Magic Keyboard (MagicPad):

  • Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V — copy and paste files
  • Ctrl+A — select all
  • Arrow keys — navigate file list
  • Enter — open file or folder
  • Delete — move to trash
