File Manager for Android Desktop
Android Desktop is the direction Android is heading — and it's no longer just coming: Googlebook, Google's new Android-native laptop is the first device where AnExplorer runs on a laptop as a true native app. AnExplorer is ready for all Android Desktop environments.
What "Android Desktop" covers:
| Environment | Description | Supported Devices |
|---|---|---|
| Googlebook | Google's new Android-native laptop category, built for Gemini Intelligence | Asus, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Dell — arriving Fall 2026 |
| Android Desktop Platform | Standalone Android-as-desktop OS on dedicated PC hardware | Future Android Desktop devices |
| Android Desktop Mode | Windowed mode with taskbar on phone connected to external display | Pixel 9+ running Android 15+ |
| Samsung DeX | Samsung's phone-to-desktop experience | Galaxy S series, Galaxy Tab S series |
| Motorola Ready For | Motorola's desktop projection | Motorola Edge, Razr series |
AnExplorer treats all four as first-class environments. The same app binary runs across all of them with automatic UI adaptation — no separate builds required.
Built for the Big Screen
Managing files on a desktop display is different from a phone screen. AnExplorer adapts automatically:
- Multi-Window Support — Open multiple AnExplorer instances side-by-side. Drag and drop files between windows just like on Windows or macOS.
- Keyboard & Mouse Navigation — Right-click context menus, scroll wheel navigation, and full keyboard shortcut support (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Delete, etc.).
- Split-Pane View — Browse two directories simultaneously for rapid copying and moving without hitting back.
- High-Density Layout — The interface scales up on 1080p and 4K displays to show more content per screen.

Supported Desktop Environments
Googlebook
Google's new laptop category is built on the Android tech stack. Googlebook is the first laptop platform where AnExplorer runs as a true native app without any emulation or compatibility layer. Install from Google Play, and AnExplorer opens in a proper desktop window with full keyboard, mouse, multi-window, and NAS support. OEM launch partners include Asus, HP, Lenovo, Acer, and Dell. Every Googlebook is recognizable by its Glowbar — a distinctive illuminated design feature. Devices arrive in fall 2026.
See the full Googlebook guide for install steps, feature comparisons, and phone-to-laptop transfer workflows.
Android Desktop Platform
The upcoming Android Desktop platform extends Android to dedicated desktop hardware — meaning Android apps, including AnExplorer, will run natively on Android-powered desktops and laptops. The same AnExplorer build that runs in Desktop Mode today will run on Android Desktop devices when they arrive.
Android 15 Desktop Mode (Pixel)
Google's native Desktop Mode in Android 15 enables freeform windowed apps, a taskbar, and keyboard-and-mouse input on Pixel 9 and later. Connect a Pixel to an external monitor via USB-C, enable Desktop Mode, and AnExplorer opens in a resizable window alongside other apps.
Samsung DeX
AnExplorer integrates fully with Samsung DeX on Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab devices. Connect via USB-C to HDMI cable, DeX Station, or Wireless DeX, and AnExplorer behaves like a desktop app — resizable, drag-and-drop capable, and responsive to window snapping.
Motorola Ready For
On Motorola Edge and Razr devices, AnExplorer works within Motorola Ready For's desktop projection environment, providing the same windowed file management experience.
Network & Cloud Management from Android Desktop
AnExplorer connects directly to network-attached storage and cloud services — no extra desktop apps needed:
- NAS drives — Connect to Synology, QNAP, or TrueNAS using SMB or WebDAV. The share appears alongside local storage in AnExplorer.
- Wi-Fi file transfer — Use the built-in FTP Server to wirelessly transfer files between your Android Desktop and a Windows or Mac PC without USB cables.
- Cloud storage — Access Dropbox, OneDrive, and Box from the same directory tree as your local files.
